Description
5K trail run or 2.5K trail walk in honor of Jaimeson Jones, Bothell High School cross-country runner who was first diagnosed with testicular cancer at age 14 after having symptoms for more than a year but being too embarrassed to tell anyone. In remission from age 15-18, then recurred during freshman year at WSU. After chemo, high-dose chemo, stem cell transplants and surgeries, died October 7, 2010 at age 20. #dontdieofembarrassment #checkemtoday
Testicular cancer is the NUMBER 1 cancer of men ages 15-35 and is over 95% curable when caught early.
The Family Jewels 5K is held annually during Jaimeson's birthday month at beautiful Saint Edwards State Park in Kenmore, WA, and was Jaimeson's favorite place to run. The 5K educates its participants and volunteers about the signs and symptoms of TC in a fun, family-friendly way, and its proceeds benefit students who have had a sibling with cancer. JOIN US!
